♦ Santa’s Visit: Friday and Saturday, December 2nd and 3rd
A little bit of the North Pole will be arriving in Deer Lodge on Friday 2nd December. Santa will be at the Pen Convention Center on Main Street from 5 pm till 7 pm. On Saturday December 3rd, Santa will be appearing on Main Street throughout the Christmas Stroll.
♦ Children’s Movie: Friday and Saturday, December 2nd and 3rd
A children’s movie (“Cars 2” on Friday, “A Christmas Carol” (Jim Carey) on Saturday) will be shown at the Gunport Theater, inside the Old Montana Prison, at 6 pm on Friday 2nd and 3 pm on Saturday 3rd. Entrance will be via Tower 1 by the Main Entrance to the Museums. FREE of charge.
♦ Christmas Festival: Friday, December 2nd
Powell County Museum & Arts Foundation is once again sponsoring the Holiday Festival Celebration. Starting at 6 pm is the Icebreaker, holiday cheer and snacks with a no-host bar.
At 7 pm there will be silent and live auctions (including decorated trees, table decorations, etc.), live music from Wes Harr and ‘Short Notice’, food and drinks. Santa will make a special appearance at 9 pm, drawing the winning ticket for the 1964½ Mustang Raffle Car. There will also be a 50/50 raffle. Events will be held at the Pen Convention Center on Main Street. FREE of charge.
Stroll Buttons will be on sale at ACE Hardware,
J & J Variety, Keystone Drug & Gifts, Greany’s Dry Goods, MRC, Old Prison Museum
Gift Shop and Valley Foods. Buttons cost $2 each, are limited to 1000,
and provide over 170 opportunities for the wearer to win prizes and Gift
Certificates. During the Stroll, button wearers can visit local businesses, and
if they find their button number matches the number in the store they receive a
prize. Some merchants draw extra button numbers each week in the run up to
Christmas, so be sure to visit them often. Don’t forget, button numbers will be
called out during the Christmas Stroll on
December 3rd, giving you FIVE chances to win

♦ Christmas Stroll: Saturday, December 3rd
The Christmas Stroll will take place on Main Street between 2 pm till 7 pm. There will be two drawings for Chamber Gift Certificates, based upon Stroll Buttons purchased by participants. The first drawing will be held in front of Greany’s Dry Goods at 3:30 pm, the second will be held at the Community Christmas Tree in front of the Post Office, directly after the Parade of Lights. YOU MUST BE PRESENT TO WIN. Three blocks of the central business district (300, 400, 500) will be closed to vehicular traffic. There will be Live Music on the verandah of Territorial Antiques & Uniques (the Old Wardens House on the corner of Main and Maryland) from 3 pm till 5 pm.
♦ Parade of Lights: Saturday, December 3rd
The Parade will start down Main Street at 6 pm. This year’s theme is ‘Home Town Christmas’. The Parade will form on Second Street by NAPA at 5:30 pm and will enter Main Street on Cottonwood Ave. It will proceed south along Main Street ending at Montana Ave where it will disband. There will be NO CANDY THROWING FROM THE FLOATS. However, Elves will hand out candy from baskets whilst walking alongside the Parade. There will be Chamber Gift Certificates awarded to the entrants judged to be the 1st, 2nd and 3rd best in parade, handed out to winners at the Christmas tree.
♦ Christmas Tree Lighting: Saturday, December 3rd
The official Lighting of the Deer Lodge Christmas Tree will take place immediately following on from the Parade of Lights beside the Post Office. This is when the second drawing for Chamber Gift Certificates will take place. YOU MUST HAVE A BUTTON & BE PRESENT TO WIN up to $100!
♦ Drawing for Chamber Gift Certificates: Saturday, December 3rd
There will be a $25 and $50 gift certificate drawing in front of Greany’s Dry Goods store at 3:30 pm. The second set of drawings, for $25, $50 and $100 Chamber Gift Certificates, will take place after the Lighting of the Community Christmas Tree at the Post Office, following the Parade of Lights. Remember, you must have a Stroll Button and be present to stand a chance of winning.
♦ Grant-Kohrs Ranch Victorian Holiday: Sunday, December 4th
The Victorian Holiday Open House will be from 1 pm till 4 pm. The elegant 1862 Kohrs family ranch house will be decorated in the style of a Victorian Christmas. Activities include house tours, wagon rides, blacksmithing, children’s crafts and activities with assorted refreshments.
The Hamilton ACappella Society will be performing, and Santa will be making an appearance. For more information, please call (406) 846-2070
Interest free loans of up to $2000 will be available from Peoples Bank of Deer Lodge, Pioneer Federal Savings & Loan and First Security Bank. A $10.00 fee is due at the time of application. Christmas Cash loans will be available from banks starting November 1st.
Customers presenting Christmas Cash for a purchase MUST sign the front of the cash where indicated. Cash may be used at any participating business. Merchants will need to endorse the back of the Cash and deposit with their bank. The Cash is then redeemed with a 3% discount.
Chamber Members can choose to join the Christmas Cash program free of charge. Businesses that are not Chamber Members are invited to participate in the Christmas Cash program for a fee of $25. This fee helps cover the expense of printing the money and the cost of advertising.
